My Background
Welcome to Southern Gloss Detailing. My name is Reed Mathews, originally from Louisiana where I started detailing at 16 years old, grew into loving it and perfecting vehicles. I had my business there for 4 years before moving to the Gulf Shores / Orange Beach area in 2020. I loved it here so I decided to build a shop which is located in Summerdale, but still keep my mobile services going. I strive to try and make every client happy with the work and results that I can produce. May of 2026 will start year 10 of being in business and being a 1 man show, I do however look to grow and get someone who has a love for detailing and a passion to set themselves apart. Best of all of this, is that with Jesus at the helm, you can do anything you set your mind to.

In March of 2018 I was 18 years old, I flew out to Shine Supply and got trained and certified as a professional detailer. Paint Corrections, Ceramic Coatings and other techniques were all taught to me first hand.
Starke Yacht Surface Technologies
Fort Myers, FL
In December of 2023 I was 24 years old, I went to Florida and got trained and certified as a marine detailer. Wet Sanding and dry sanding, paint corrections on gel coat and painted boats and ceramic coatings.
Shiny Jets
Chino Hills, CA
In October of 2025, I flew out to Chino Hills and got trained and certified through Shiny Jets on aviation. From inside the aircraft doing suede, different leather and fabrics, to the outside doing brightwork, de-ice boots, landing gear and polishing aircraft and different techniques on applying Ceramic Coatings.
